DEMON COPPERHEAD by Barbara Kingsolver

This is a big-ass book, but it ain’t no hill for a climber. Reading this is kind of like if Forrest Gump was narrated by a hyper self-aware 14-year-old boy all the way through.

We all loved it and the author has such an artistry with her word choice and rhythm it’s like listening to music… really really sad, and sometimes funny, but always impactful music… that you feel with your heart before it ever gets to your brain. There are so many heartbreaking moments in this book that Ms. Kingsolver expertly navigates without making you feel devastated that she comes off as the mother the main character deserves but never gets.

This is a story about rebirth and how hard it is the get to the mother-fucking ocean. It will make you laugh, cry, and say “I had no idea that really happened!” This book won the Pulitzer for very good reason. Ms. Kingsolver is not just at the top of her game, but at the top of THE GAME.

So whether you’ve always thought that Demon was a term of endearment or maybe you think football is a way of life, or maybe you just like superheroes a lot or want to hear a young boy shrug off the sorrows of this world and keep pushing for something better, this book is for you. But, whatever you do, say no to drugs, and go to the fucking beach… like NOW. And also, read this book.
