HOLY SHIT. The Osage were the richest people per capita on the planet at one point in time?! Then white people found a way to fuck them over, including having many of them killed… and several of the murders are still unsolved?!

This is a crazy true story of one of the most underreported stories in American history and should be mandatory reading for high-schoolers. The calculating violence in this book is only matched by the determination of the hero, Mollie Burkhart, and the insane historical details casually dropped every few pages. Need a passing mention about the Getty oil fortune… you got it. Need a name drop about America’s first Prima Ballerina, who was an Osage woman… no problem. Need some determined cops, J. Edgar Hoover, and a so-crazy-it-has-to-be-true crime plot that involves the ultimate betrayal and takes years to fully unfold… yup.

The movie is good but many of us thought it was too slow, this book is not slow but it is on the longer side. As an American, you should know what happened to these people and there should be a monument to Mollie. Also, fuck you William King Hale.
