ON KILLING by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman

This book should have been an article.

It’s so long it will make you want to die. There are a number of really interesting facts in here but it’s 10% fascinating and insightful hard facts, 70% fluff, 15% old man yells at cloud, and 5% why are you telling me about people having sex in crowded rooms.

Killing is hard, a lot harder than you think. It was also rarer than you think, throughout history and today. In fact, until soldiers got trained on how to effectively use personal firearms or kill people from a distance it was very far from the main way you would die in a war. Murder changes people and not in the ways you think and definitely for the worse. Best leave killing to the military, John Wick, or video games.

Save yourself some time: murder bad-er than you think, murder hard-er than you think, seriously don’t murder and don’t read this book.
