THE MASTERMIND: THE HUNT FOR THE WORLD'S MOST PROLIFIC CRIMINAL by Evan Ratliff

This is a true story… allegedly. It’s an insane story that somehow involves the internet, a former SeaWorld trainer, lots of murder, slavery, cheap access to pharmaceuticals, murder, pirates, fisherman, a and failed plan to buy a whole country along with some of the most impressive modern police work ever detailed tpped off with some of the most incompetent prosecutors we’ve ever heard of.

This book is a glimpse into the shadow world of international crime that is fascinating and amusing when it’s not horrifying or overwhelming. The author does a great job telling this story with precision, while not turning away from the deep consequences of this international criminal’s actions.

It’s a fun read. Nothing to rave about but it’s full of enough, “WTF that really happened?!” moments that you will be thoroughly entertained and a little bit more informed throughout the book. Also, Scorsese needs to make a movie about this ASAP.
