UNDERLAND by Robert Macfarlane

This book should have been an article.

It’s an interesting book but it’s like 70% too long. It would make a great 90-minute documentary or like a really fascinating hour-long interview.

Make no mistake, the author's point that humanity’s past, present and future are deeply linked to underground structures like caves is profound but it’s kinda like eating a cheeseburger for every meal… by the 5th time he makes the point you’re hungry for something else. No one loved this, everyone found at least one mind-blowing fact, and not a single member felt the book was the right length. It’s a good swing but a serious miss.

If you can get an abridged version we highly recommend that but otherwise, you can’t win 'em all… just don’t bury your head in the sand… or a cave… or a glacier… that shit is really dangerous.
